Who we are

A mission formed through relationship.

RECLAIM East Africa is a Christian ministry serving alongside children, families, pastors, churches, educators, and community leaders in Uganda and Kenya.

We believe lasting work grows through listening, local leadership, faithful presence, and a shared commitment to the dignity God has placed within every person.

Our mission

Restoration rooted in Christ.

“The mission of RECLAIM East Africa, Inc. is to glorify God by participating in His work of restoration through demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ, strengthening vulnerable children and families, equipping local leaders, and cultivating sustainable partnerships that bring lasting hope to communities throughout East Africa.”

Our story

Before RECLAIM was a name, it was relationship.

The story began in 2014 with a willingness to follow where God led—to meet people, listen, learn, and serve. Relationships grew with children, families, pastors, teachers, churches, and communities in Uganda and Kenya.

Over time, those relationships revealed both immediate needs and long-term possibilities. RECLAIM did not grow from the belief that America had the answers and East Africa had the needs. It grew from people walking together, each bringing knowledge, faith, ability, experience, resources, and perspective.

“We are not inviting people to create ministry for a visit. We are inviting them into relationships and work already growing.”

Our Christian identity

Our faith is not something we add to the work. It is the reason for it.

We believe restoration is ultimately found in Jesus Christ. Our faith becomes visible through prayer, discipleship, compassion, integrity, practical service, and partnership with the body of Christ.

We seek to serve every person with dignity while remaining clear about who we are. Practical care is not conditioned on a person’s belief, and Christian ministry should never use vulnerability as pressure.

What shapes us

Commitments that guide the way we serve.

These are more than statements for a website. They are standards by which plans, partnerships, decisions, and stories should be measured.

God-given dignity

A person’s worth is never determined by ability, resources, circumstance, or what others can see.

Local leadership

Leaders closest to the work identify needs, shape priorities, develop solutions, and lead implementation.

Families at the center

We strengthen children by helping equip, encourage, and build up the families around them.

Relationship before program

We listen, learn, and build trust before deciding what responsible service should look like.

Responsible stewardship

Accountability, clear expectations, honest communication, and faithful follow-through matter.

Dignity without dependence

We pursue sustainable opportunity, shared responsibility, and the recognition of every person’s ability.

How leadership works

Shared leadership. Clear accountability.

RECLAIM is building an accountable structure that connects U.S. governance and support with locally grounded leadership in Uganda and Kenya.

The U.S. Board carries legal, fiduciary, strategic, and stewardship responsibility. The Executive Director coordinates the mission’s daily work. Leaders in Uganda and Kenya identify needs, shape priorities, develop solutions, and lead the work within their communities.

As local organizational structures continue to develop, RECLAIM’s commitment is that East African leaders participate meaningfully in discernment and decision-making—not simply receive plans made elsewhere.

Why RECLAIM?

Worth is never lost—even when it is overlooked.

The name RECLAIM does not suggest that people belong to us or that their dignity disappeared. It points toward God’s work of restoring what suffering, disability, poverty, separation, or neglect can obscure: belonging, opportunity, hope, and the recognition of a person’s God-given worth.
